Call Me Crazy
Oliver doesn’t like olives
And Mary thinks marrying’s odd
And Colton’s allergic to horses
Divina believes in no god
And don’t get me started on Philpott
And Sunshine and Robin and Mame
‘Cause whatever their parents were thinking
They didn’t think What’s in a Name

And the girl in your marvelous painting? That wouldn’t be Angelica, now would it?
I think the original ‘model’ for this illustration seemed far from angelic to me (a very weird, kind of creepy child mannequin seen in a window of the Chinatown district of some city), so I felt the need to make her a little more angelic on my own! 😉
Who would have thought, a lovely little girl like you?
😉 !!!
There is a member (no pun intended) of parliament here in Alberta who’s first name is Manmeet…..just saying…..hooe you & Mr are well!!!
All I can think is that I would guess, and I sincerely hope, that said gentleman’s parents were of the culture where that name has a decidedly different character than in English-speaking lands! By contrast, my dad grew up attending a church with a fellow whose clearly English-speaking parents did give him the unfortunate moniker of Harry Butts, and by cracky (if you know what I mean), I would certainly have changed my name if it’d been *my* rotten forebears that did such a thing.
Yes, I’ve certainly come across those ‘what were they thinking’ names. Wonderful painting and love your poetic wit! 🙂
